Basic Level Pottery skills.
In this course we introduce all the important skills that are required in the preparation and building of most simple pottery projects.
Amongst the most important of these are preparation of slip, our glue, preparation of the clay surfaces by crosshatching, and bonding the pieces together using finger pressure. Basic skills which will enable you to prepare the clay and more importantly stick the pieces together to form your pot or clay model.
We introduce you to several basic shapes and techniques which will allow you to start on your clay modelling experience in an easy to understand manner. Included are the skills enabling you to add features and textural details.
We have successfully used these shapes as the basis for all our modelling of animals and figures for many years.
The format which we have used is to present the information by text and still photos enhanced by video demonstrations.
Read the text, view the still photos of each skill and desired result and reinforce your knowledge and skills by working through the step by step video demonstration of each skill and topic.
Included in the Pottery Course is a Practice Project making step by step a simple rabbit figure incorporating each of the skills detailed in the course.
Also included is a description of the tools recommended for our clay modelling , versions of these tools are available in any craft or DIY shop or they can be made at home.
